해설문

국문

본래 비로자나불을 주존불로 모신 곳이었으나, 최근에는 16나한상(十六羅漢像)을 모시고 있어 영산전(靈山殿) 혹은 나한전(羅漢殿)으로도 불린다. 정면 3칸, 측면 2칸의 다포식 맞배지붕집으로 「산전」이란 편액이 걸려 있다. 1613년광해군 5에 처음 세웠으며, 1842년(헌종 8)에 중수하고, 1989년에 기와를 갈고 일부 보수하다. 전체적으로 단아한 모습을 보여주고 있다.

영문

Birojeon Hall of Ansimsa Temple, Cheongju

This building originally enshrined Vairocana, the Cosmic Buddha, as its principal figure. It now enshrines statues of the sixteen arhats, enlightened saintly men in Buddhism. It is also called Nahanjeon, or the Hall of Arhats. It was constructed in 1613 and was rebuilt in 1842. In 1989, the roof was retiled and the building was partially repaired.
