해설문

집수지와 연못지는 성 안에서 물을 이용하는데/쓰는 데 꼭 필요한 시설이다. 평면 형태는 네모꼴이며 돌을 쌓아 만들었다. 주변에서는 건물터, 철기 생산 시설 등이 확인되었다. 집수지의 크기는 9×14m이다. 남동쪽 모서리에는 물이 빠져 나가는 출수구(出水口)가 있다. 연못지는 집수지의 북쪽에 있는데 크기는 4.5×4.5m이다.

집수지와 연못지 안에서는 도기류, 자기류, 기와류, 석제품 등이 출토되었다. 특히 중국 송대 지방요 자기편이 확인되어 당시의 대외 교류를 짐작할 수 있다. 유물은 고려시대의 것이 많은 편인데, 통일신라시대에 만들어진 2차 성이 오랫동안 쓰였음을 보여준다.

Water Basin Site and Pond Site

These remains in the second phase section of Dangseong Fortress are the sites of a water basin and a pond. Both the water basin and pond were rectangular in shape and constructed of stacked stones. The water basin site measures 9 m by 14 m and has a water drain in the southeast corner. Located to the north of the water basin site, the pond site measures 4.5 m by 4.5 m.

In the vicinity of the water basin and pond sites, the sites of a building and a facility for ironware production were identified. Also excavated from the sites were earthenware, ceramics, roof tiles, and stone artifacts. Many of the discovered artifacts date to the Goryeo period (918-1392), showing that the second phase section of the fortress had been in use for a long time after its construction in the Unified Silla period (668-935). The discovery of shards of ceramics from Song China (960-1279) is evidence of international exchange at the time.
