해설문

국문

이 건물은 창녕 조씨의 시조 태사공(太師公) 조계룡(曺繼龍)의 묘를 지키고 보호하고자 조선 영조 33년(1757)에 세운 재실입니다. 순조 17년(1817)에 묘단비를 세우고 순조 32년(1832)에 묘각을 고쳐 지어 종덕재라 이름을 붙였습니다. 1929년 창녕 조씨 대종회에서 다시 고쳤으며 6.25전쟁 때 일부 피해를 입었으나 다시 고쳐 보존하고 있습니다.

정당을 중심으로 좌·우에 동·서재가 배치되어 있고 앞에 솟을대문이 있습니다. 정당은 앞면은 6칸이고 옆면은 2칸입니다. 지붕은 옆면에서 볼 때 여덟 팔(八)자 모양을 한 팔작지붕입니다. 가운데에 2칸의 대청을 두고 좌·우에 각각 방 2칸을 두었으며 앞에는 툇마루가 있습니다.

Main Hall of Jongdeokjae Ritual House

This building is the main hall of Jongdeokjae Ritual House. This ritual house is used for the preparation of ceremonial rituals and the maintenance of the tomb of Jo Gye-ryong, the founder of the Changnyeong Jo Clan. First built in 1757, it was expanded in 1929 and was repaired again after the Korean War (1950-1953). Its name, "Jongdeokjae (種德齋)," means "house of sowing virtue." This ritual house consists of the main hall, an elevated gate, and ancillary buildings.
