예천권씨 종가문적은 조선 인조 때의 학자 죽소 권별(竹所 權鼈, 1589~1671)이 쓴 『죽소부군일기(竹所府君日記)』 1책과 인물사전식 설화집 『해동잡록(海東雜錄)』 14책으로 이루어진 총 2종 15책의 문적이다.

『죽소부군일기』는 조선 인조 3년(1625) 정월부터 다음 해 인조 4년(1626) 12월까지 2년 동안 726일의 일상사를 기록한 친필 일기이다. 이 일기를 쓴 권별은 우리나라 최초의 백과사전인 『대동운부군옥(大東韻府群玉)』을 지은 초간 권문해(草澗 權文海)의 아들이다.

『해동잡록』은 벼슬을 한 인물을 왕조별·성씨별로 분류하고, 그들의 학문과 일화를 기록한 문헌설화집으로, 『대동운부군옥(大東韻府群玉)』에 기록된 인물사를 보완·정리하여 총 14권 14책으로 엮은 것이다.

현종 11년(1670년)에 완성된 이 책은 우리나라 최초의 인물사전이라는 점에서 그 가치가 높다.

현재 예천권씨 종가문적은 예천권씨 초간공파 종택(국가민속문화재 제201호)에 있는 백승각(百承閣)에 『대동운부군옥 목판 및 고본』(보물 제878호), 『권문해 초간일기』(보물 제879호) 등을 비롯한 여러 문적과 함께 보관되어 있다.

Books and Documents of the Yecheon Gwon Clan

These documents of the Yecheon Gwan clan include 2 books, including the Diary of Gwon Byeol and the Miscellaneous Records of Korea written in 1670. Gwon Byeol (1589-1671) was a scholar of the Joseon period (1392-1910) during the reign of King Injo (r. 1623-1649). His father is Gwon Mun-hae (1534-1591), the compiler of the Encyclopedia of Korea Arranged by the Rhymes of the Entries, which was the first encyclopedic work in Korean history..

The Diary of Gwon Byeol is the first-hand record of Gwon's daily routine for 726 days, from the 1st lunar month of 1625 to the 12th lunar month of 1626.

The Miscellaneous Records of Korea is a 14 volume collection of folktales about the government officials who were previously introduced in the Encyclopedia of Korea Arranged by the Rhymes of the Entries. The former is a supplement to the latter, with added categorization by surnames and by the reign period of the Joseon kings. It is thus the first encylopedia of historical figures in Korea.

The documents are kept at Baekseunggak Pavilion at the head house of the Chogangong Branch of the Yecheon Gwon clan (National Folklore Cultural Heritage No. 201), along with other family documents, such as the printing woodblocks and original manuscripts of the Encyclopedia of Korea Arranged by the Rhymes of the Entries (Treasure No. 878), and the Diary of Gwon Mun-hae (Treasure No. 879).
