해설문

국문

산을 등지고 있는 이 집은 안채와 사랑채가 붙어 있는 ㄷ자 모양으로, 일자형 헛간채가 놓여 있어 전체적으로는 ㅁ자 모양이다.

안채는 툇마루를 설치한 대청마루를 중심으로 오른쪽에 윗방, 안방, 부엌을 직각으로 배치하였다. 왼쪽으로는 건넌방이 접하여 ㄱ자 모양인데 이는 영서·중부 지방의 민가 형식이다.

사랑채 지붕은 옆면에서 볼 때 여덟 팔八자 모양을 한 팔작지붕으로 꾸며 높고 경쾌해 보인다.

영문

Historic House of Changwon-ri, Yeongwol

This is a traditional Korean house. It is unknown when the house was built and who it belonged to. It consists of a women’s quarters, a men’s quarters, and a storehouse, which together form a square layout with a central courtyard.

The storehouse has a linear layout and combines the function of a main gate. Upon entering through the main gate, the men’s can be seen on the left with the L-shaped women’s quarters adjacent to it. The women’s quarters consists of a wooden-floored hall in the middle, rooms and a kitchens to the right and a room to the left. It is a common layout of a women’s quarters in the Gangwon-do region. While the women’s quarters and storehouse have gable roofs, the status of the men’s quarters is emphasized by its taller hip-and-gable roof.

영문 해설 내용

이 전통 민가는 건축 시기나 내력에 대해서는 알 수 없다. 안채, 사랑채, 헛간채로 이루어져 있으며, 세 건물이 안마당을 중심으로 ㅁ자형을 이루고 있다.

헛간채는 대문의 역할을 겸하는 일자형 건물이다. 대문을 들어서면 왼쪽의 사랑채와 정면의 ㄱ자형 안채가 붙어 있는 모습이다. 안채는 대청을 중심으로 오른쪽에 윗방, 안방, 부엌을 두었고, 왼쪽으로는 건넌방을 두었다. 이러한 구조는 강원도 지역의 민가에서 흔히 볼 수 있다. 맞배지붕을 올린 안채, 헛간채와 달리 사랑채에는 높은 팔작지붕을 올렸다.
