해설문

국문

영모재는 목은 이색의 후손인 한산 이씨의 재실이다. 재실이란 조상의 묘나 사당 옆에 세운 건물로 자손들이 모여 묘제*를 지내고 종회**를 여는 곳이다. 영모재도 같은 역할을 하였던 곳인데 처음 세워진 시기는 알 수 없다. 한말에 영모학교(永慕學校)로 이용되었으며 한산 지역의 교육을 담당한 유서 깊은 건물이다.

  • 묘제: 무덤 앞에서 지내는 제사.
  • 종회: 종중의 일을 의논하기 위하여 모이는 모임.
  • '유서 깊은 건물'이라고 하면 옛 건물이 그대로 남아 있는 것으로 오해할 수 있음.

Yeongmojae Ritual House

Yeongmojae Ritual House is where members of the Hansan Yi Clan gathered to prepare the veneration rituals held at Hyojeonsa Shrine and to discuss family matters.

It is unknown when Yeongmojae Ritual House was first built. In the early 20th century, it was used as Yeongmo School. It was newly built during the renovation of Munheonseowon Confucian Academy that took place between 2007 and 2013.

  • The name Yeongmojae means “Hall of Remembering Forever.”Many shrines and ritual houses have this name as it conveys the heartfelt appreciation of descendants for the virtues of their ancestors.

영문 해설 내용

영모재는 한산이씨 가문의 재실로, 문중 일원이 모여 묘제를 지내고 종중의 대소사를 논의하는 곳이다.

영모재가 처음 세워진 시기는 알 수 없으며, 20세기 초에는 영모학교로도 이용되기도 하였다. 지금의 건물은 2007년부터 2013년까지 서원을 정비할 때 새로 지었다.
