어필각은 1414년(태종 14) 안성(安省)을 강원도 관찰사로 임명하는 교지(敎旨)를 보관하던 건물로 1916년에 창건하였다. 작은 건물이지만 장식성을 높였으며, 근대기 건축 양식을 살펴볼 수 있는 좋은 자료이다.
영문
This pavilion was built in 1916 in order to store the royal edict issued in 1414 by King Taejong (r. 1400-1418) to appoint An Seong (1344-1421) as a governor of Gangwon-do Province. Though the building is small in size, it showcases elaborate decorative features.
