1980년 7월 2일 개관한 수원시립중앙도서관은 수원시 최초의 시립도서관으로, 경기도립중앙도서관(1970년 개관) 다음으로 수원시에서 오래된 도서관이다. 1979년 중앙일보·동양방송(JTBC의 전신)에서 착공하여 수원시에 기증하였다. 지하 1층과 지상 2층으로 구성된 중앙도서관은 26만여권의 도서를 보유하고 있으며, 1층에는 종합자료실 및 디지털실, 어린이 자료실이 있고, 2층에는 열람실과 정보자료실, 강의실 및 휴게실 등이 있다.

Suwon City Library is the oldest city library and second oldest public library in Suwon. It opened its doors on July 2, 1980, after having been constructed the previous year by JoongAng Daily and Tongyang Broadcasting Company. The building, which houses some 260,000 books, comprises a basement, a first floor with three collections rooms (general, digital, and children’s), and a second floor with two reading rooms, an information center, a classroom, and a lounge.

Suwon City Library opened on July 2, 1980, making it Suwon's oldest city library and second oldest public library, after the opening of the Gyeonggi Provincial Library (today's Gyeonggi-do Office of Education Library) in 1970. The building, which consists of two above-ground stories and a basement, was constructed in 1979 by JoongAng Daily and Tongyang Broadcasting Company (today's JTBC) and then donated to the Suwon City Government. Today, the library holds some 260,000 books and is equipped with various public facilities, including a general collections room, a digital collections room, and a children's collections room on the first floor and two reading rooms, an information center, a classroom, and a lounge on the second floor.
