국문
송림사 명부전 안에는 조각상 27구가 있다. 정면의 석조삼장보살좌상을 포함하여 각각의 협시 보살 6구가 한 줄로 배치되어 있고, ㄱ자로 꺾인 양쪽의 단 위에는 시왕상이 있다. 그 옆으로는 판관, 사자, 귀왕, 인왕이 각각 1구씩 자리 잡고 있다. 본존불인 천장보살의 협시상은 비교적 최근에 조성된 것으로 추정되어 이것을 제외하고, 지장보살과 지지보살의 협시상과 시왕상, 제상을 포함한 22구가 문화재로 지정되었다.
시왕*은 저승에서 죽은 사람의 죄를 심판하는 10명의 왕으로 사람이 죽은 날부터 49일 동안 심판한다고 한다. 명부전의 시왕상들은 용과 봉황으로 조각된 의자에 다양한 자세로 앉아 있다.
지장보살과 지지보살의 협시상에서 발견된 발원문을 살펴보면 삼장보살좌상과 천장보살 협시상을 제외한 명부전 조각상 22구는 조선 현종 6년(1665)에 한꺼번에 조성되었고, 조각승으로는 17세기에 활동한 승일 등 총 13명이 제작에 참여한 것을 알 수 있다.

Wooden Ten Underworld Kings and Retinue in Myeongbujeon Hall of Songnimsa Temple
Enshrined inside Myeongbujeon Hall of Songnimsa Temple are 27 statues, consisting of the Three Bodhisattvas, the Ten Underworld Kings, and their retinue.
At the center of the altar are the Three Bodhisattvas, consisting of the Heavenly Bodhisattva, the Earthly Bodhisattva, and the Underworldly Bodhisattva (Ksitigarbha), each flanked by two attendant bodhisattvas. To the left and right of the altar are the Ten Underworld Kings, who preside over the judgment of the dead, seated in various postures on chairs engraved with dragon and phoenix designs. To each side of them are a judge, a messenger, a ghost king, and a wrathful guardian.
Among these statues, 22 were created in 1665 by 13 monk sculptors including Seungil. These include the attendant bodhisattvas of the Earthly and Underworldly Bodhisattvas, the Ten Underworld Kings, and the retinue. In 2004, they were collectively designated as a Gyeongsangbuk-do Tangible Cultural Heritage. The attendant bodhisattvas of the Heavenly Bodhisattva were excluded from designation as a cultural heritage as they are presumed to have been recently made.
영문 해설 내용
송림사 명부전에는 삼장보살좌상과 시왕상을 비롯하여 총 27구의 존상이 모셔져 있다.
불단 중앙에는 천장보살, 지지보살, 지장보살로 이루어진 삼장보살상이 있고, 각 보살상 옆에는 협시보살상이 2구씩 있다. 불단 양옆에는 저승세계에서 죽은 자의 죄를 심판하는 10명의 왕인 시왕상이 있다. 명부전의 시왕상들은 용과 봉황으로 조각된 의자에 다양한 자세로 앉아 있다. 그 옆으로는 판관, 사자, 귀왕, 인왕이 각각 1구씩 있다.
