1932년에 세워진 이 건물은 당시로서는 드물게 점포와 주거가 2층으로 연결된 일본식 상점으로 건축되었다. 당시 목조 상가 건축물의 공간 구성과 특성이 잘 나타나는 건축 유산으로, 그동안에도 가게로 사용하였다. 현재까지도 판교 장터 진입부에 자리하고 있으며, 독특한 외관 때문에 마을의 상징적인 건물로서 역할을 하고 있다.

Modern Mixed-Use Building 1 in Pangyo, Seocheon (Jangmi Photo Studio)

This Japanese-style building was constructed in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945). Unusually for the time, it was built as a two-story building with a shop placed in the front part of the lower floor and a residential space occupying the rear of the lower floor and the entire upper floor. The overall architectural features of the building are well-preserved, making it a good example of wooden commercial-use buildings from the first half of the 20th century. Due to its distinctive exterior, the building is considered a symbolic structure of Pangyo Village.

영문 해설 내용

이 건물은 일제강점기 때인 1932년에 세워진 일본식 가옥이다. 당시로서는 드물게 2층짜리 건물로 지어졌고, 1층 앞면에는 점포, 1층 뒷면과 2층에는 주거 공간이 있었다. 전반적인 건축 형식이 원형을 유지하고 있어, 20세기 전반기 목조 상가 건축물의 특성을 잘 보여준다. 독특한 외관 덕분에 판교마을의 상징적인 건물로 여겨지고 있다.
