해설문

국문

• 2002년 복원

비장들이 근무처이다. 비장은 감사나 절도사 같은 고위관리를 보좌하는 간부를 말한다. 화성 유수는 정2품 당상관으로 보좌하는 비장이 여럿이었다. 유수를 보좌하는 업무성격에 맞게 동헌인 장남헌 가까이에 비장청을 두었다. 1795년(정조 19) 을묘년 혜경궁의 회갑연을 행궁에서 벌일 때도 비장들은 음식을 차리는 일에서부터 행사가 진행되는 모든 절차를 책임 맡았다.

국문 수정

비장청은 비장들이 근무하는 건물이다. 비장은 급이 높은 고을 수령을 보좌하는 간부를 말하는데, 화성 유수는 정2품 당상관이었기 때문에 여러 명의 비장을 두었다. 정조 19년(1795) 혜경궁의 회갑연을 치를 때 비장은 음식을 차리는 일에서부터 행사가 진행되는 모든 절차를 담당했다. 비장청은 유수를 보좌하는 업무성격에 맞게 동헌인 봉수당 가까이에 두었다.

Bijangcheong (Adjutants' Office)

Bijangcheong was the office of bijang, adjutant officers who assisted the local magistrate of Suwon. The adjutant officers always worked in close cooperation with the local magistrate, and they made great contributions to the construction of Hwaseong Fortress and the birthday banquet held for King Jeongjo's mother in 1795. The office was originally located near Bongsudang Hall and was moved to its current location in 1796.

영문 해설 내용

비장청은 유수를 보좌하는 비장이 근무하던 건물이다. 화성의 비장들은 늘 유수와 밀착해서 업무를 수행했고, 화성의 축성과 1795년에 행궁에서 열린 정조 어머니의 회갑연 등 여러 행사의 진행을 담당하였다. 비장청은 원래 봉수당 근처에 있었으나, 1796년에 현재의 자리로 옮겼다.
