지금 건물은 1969~1973년 복원공사 때 지은 것으로, 안에는 북이 있다. 범영루를 받치고 있는 수미산(須彌山) 형태의 돌기둥은 8세기 중엽 불국사가 건립되었을 때 세워진 원래의 기둥으로, 목조 건축 부재인 첨차 모양으로 돌을 다듬어 차곡차곡 쌓아올린 것이다.

Beomyeongnu Pavilion

Beomyeongnu is a bell pavilion located on the front left corner of the courtyard of Daeungjeon Hall. Instead of a bronze bell, it now holds a large drum. The current building was newly constructed during the renovation project of 1969-1973, but its stone pillars date to the mid-8th century. These pillars symbolize Mount Meru, the sacred mountain that is at the center of Buddhist cosmology.
