해설문
국문
회화나무로 깎아 만든 2구의 조각상으로 왼쪽이 무인상, 오른쪽이 문인상이다. 머리가 전체 크기의 반을 차지하는 이등신대(二等身大) 형태이다. 두 상 모두 파란색 옷을 입고 왼손만 보이고 오른손은 옷에 가려져 있다.
문인상은 검은색 큰 관모를 쓰고 한손으로 턱수염을 잡은 채 인자하게 웃고 있는 모습이고, 무인상은 투구를 쓴 장군의 모습으로 투구 위에 삼지창을 꽂고 있다. 왼손에 물건을 지녔던 것으로 보이나, 지금은 없어졌다. 무인상도 호탕하게 웃고 있는 모습이다. 문인상의 얼굴은 백색에 가까우나 무인상은 붉은빛으로 대조를 이룬다.
조선 후기의 작품으로 보이며, 이곳의 토속적인 민간신앙과 깊은 관련이 있을 것으로 추측된다.
영문
Wood Civil Official and Military Official Statues
These two statues are made of pagoda tree wood and depict a civil official and a military official. They are presumed to date to the late period of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910). The one on the right with the white face is the civil official, and the one on the left with the red face is the military official.
The heads of the statues comprise nearly half of their overall heights. They both are depicted wearing blue robes with their right hands hidden under their robes. The civil official wears a black cap and touches his beard with his left hand while smiling benevolently. The military official is depicted as a general wearing a helmet with a three-pronged spear on top while smiling magnanimously. It is presumed he once held something in his left hand, but this object is missing.
