해설문

국문

비각은 표석을 보호하는 건물이다. 단종비각은 단종대왕 표석과 함께 영조 9년(1733)에 세웠다. 표석의 앞면에는 ‘조선국단종대왕장릉(朝鮮國端宗大王莊陵)’이라는 이름을, 뒷면에는 단종대왕의 생애를 새겼다.

Pavilion for the Tombstone of King Danjong

This pavilion houses a tombstone erected in 1733 to commemorate the life of King Danjong (1441-1457, r. 1452-1455). The inscription on the front of the tombstone reads “Jangneung Royal Tomb of the Great King Danjong of Joseon,” while the inscription on the back is a brief record of the king’s life.

영문 해설 내용

이 비각에는 단종(1441-1457, 재위 1452-1455)의 생애를 기록하여 1733년에 세운 표석이 있다. 비석 앞면에 새겨진 글씨는 “조선국 단종대왕 장릉”이고, 뒷면에는 단종의 생애를 간략하게 새겼다.
