궁궐을 둘러싸고 있는 담장으로 동서 길이가 약240m, 남북이 약 490m의 직사각형이다. 담장의 폭은 3m 정도로, 잘 다듬은 석재를 쌓아 올려 만들었다. 담장의 안팎으로 돌을 깔아 보도(부석시설敷石施設)를 만들고, 담장 경계인 석렬시설(石烈施設)을 설치하였다. 부속시설로는 물 빠짐을 위한 수구와 배수로가 있고, 동·서·북측에 각 1개소, 남측에 3개소의 궁궐문터가 발견되었다.

Palace Enclosure Wall – Southern Side

This is the southern side of the enclosure wall that surrounded the palace.

The enclosure wall formed a rectangle that measured 240 m from east to west and 490 m from north to south. It was constructed of hewn stones, measured 3 m in width, and was flanked by stone pavement on each side. The construction technique differs from section to section, suggesting that different groups were involved in the building of the wall. Some parts of the wall have been newly renovated following the excavation of the site.

As the southern side of the enclosure wall is the facade of the palace, it had three gates, unlike the other sides which each had only one gate. The southern side of the wall also had several drainage outlets and drainage ditches.

이곳은 궁궐을 둘러싸고 있는 담장의 남측 부분이다.

담장은 동서 길이가 약 240m, 남북이 약 490m의 직사각형이다. 담장의 폭은 3m 정도로, 잘 다듬은 석재를 쌓아 올려 만들었고, 담장의 안팎으로 돌을 깔아 보도를 만들었다. 담장은 구간별로 돌을 쌓는 방법이 달라 담장을 쌓은 축조집단 간에 차이가 있음을 알 수 있다. 담장 일부는 발굴조사 이후 복원되었다.

남측 담장은 궁궐의 정면으로, 다른 담장에는 문이 1개 있었지만 이곳에는 3개가 있었다. 부속시설로는 물 빠짐을 위한 수구와 배수로가 있었다.
