김치인(1716~1790) 본관 청풍(淸風), 자 공서(公恕), 호 고정(古亭), 시호 헌숙(憲肅)

3대에 걸쳐 정승을 지낸 청풍김씨 가문 출신으로 조선 후기 영의정을 지낸 김치인의 묘비와 석물이다. 김치인은 1748년(영조 24) 과거에 장원으로 급제한 뒤 여러 관직을 거쳐 1767년 영의정에 이르렀다. 성품이 치밀하고 결단력이 있는 인물로 관직에 있으면서 『명의록』ㆍ『국조상례보편』ㆍ『대전통편』 편찬을 주관하였다. 또한, 나이 49세이던 1764년(영조 40)부터 1765년까지 2년간의 공적ㆍ사적의 일을 담아낸 『고정일기』를 남겼는데 현존하는 유일한 저작물로 평가받고 있다. 1790년(정조 14) 김치인이 향년 75세의 나이로 세상을 떠나자 인천 안현(지금의 시흥시 안현동)에 묘역이 조성되었다. 이후 2022년 후손 김주완이 묘역을 정비하면서 시흥오이도박물관에 묘비 및 석물을 기증하여 이곳으로 옮겨졌다.

※ 석물이란 능묘에 설치한 각종 석조물로 망자의 생전 행적을 기록한 묘비류, 위엄을 갖추어 신분과 권위를 나타 내는 의장 석물(문인석, 무인석, 동자석, 장명등, 망주석, 양석, 호석), 묘에서 제사 지낼 때 필요한 묘제석물(혼유석, 상석, 고석, 향로석)이 있다. 김치인 선생 묘역에는 묘비, 망주석, 양석, 상석, 고석이 설치되어 있었다.

Tombstone and Stone Sculptures of Kim Chi-in

These are the tombstone and stone sculptures from the tomb of Kim Chi-in (1716-1790), a civil official of the Joseon period (1392-1910). Kim Chi-in’s tomb, located in Anhyeon-dong, Siheung, was renovated in 2022 by his descendant Kim Ju-wan, at which time the tombstone and stone sculptures were donated to Siheung Oido Museum. The sculptures include pillars, sheep statues, tables, and a drum-shaped pedestal.

Kim Chi-in was a figure with a meticulous character and determination. After he placed first in the civil service examination in 1748, he served in several official posts and became chief state councilor, the highest government position. During his time in office, he oversaw the publication of the Supplement to the Regulations of the Royal Funeral Rites (Gukjo sangnye bopyeon) describing the funeral rites of the royal court and Great Code for Ruling the State (Daejeon Tongpyeon), a national legal code. He also kept a diary that records his public and private life for two years from 1764 to 1765. Notably, Kim Chi-in’s grandfather, Kim Gu, served as third state councilor and his father, Kim Jae-ro, served as chief state councilor, making them a three-generation high official family.

영문 해설 내용

조선시대의 문신 김치인(1716-1790)의 묘에 세워졌던 묘비와 석물이다. 김치인의 묘소는 시흥시 안현동에 조성되었는데, 2022년 후손 김주완이 묘역을 정비하면서 묘비와 석물을 시흥오이도박물관에 기증하여 이곳으로 옮겨왔다. 석물은 망주석, 양석, 상석, 고석으로 이루어져 있다.

김치인은 성품이 치밀하고 결단력이 있는 인물이었다. 1748년 과거에 장원으로 급제한 뒤 여러 관직을 지냈으며, 최고위 관직인 영의정에 이르렀다. 관직에 있는 동안 궁중의 상례에 대해 정리한 『국조상례보편』과 법전인 『대전통편』의 편찬을 주관하였고, 1764년부터 1765년까지 2년간의 공적, 사적의 일을 담아낸 『고정일기』를 남기기도 하였다. 김치인의 조부인 김구는 우의정, 아버지인 김재로는 영의정을 지내, 3대에 걸쳐 정승을 지낸 가문으로 널리 알려졌다.
