해설문

국문

금정산성 제3망루는 동문에서 북쪽으로 약 1km 지점에 자리하고 있다. 이 망루는 능선 동쪽으로 튀어나온 암반과 암반 사이 경사면에 축대를 쌓아 지은 정면 2칸, 측면 1칸인 맞배지붕* 건물로, 솟아오른 암반 절벽 위에 절묘하게 얹혀 있는 모습을 하고 있다.

이 망루에서 서쪽으로 10여 미터 떨어진 곳에 있는 바위에는 ‘번위돈(蕃威墩)’이라는 이름이 음각으로 새겨져 있어 이곳이 돈대(墩臺)**였음을 말해 주고 있다.

이 망루는 금정산에서 유명한 나비바위와 부채바위를 포함하여 천구만별(千龜萬鱉)*** 같은 모습을 한 주변의 바위와 어우러져 아름다운 자연 경관을 이루고 있다.

  • 맞배지붕: 건물의 모서리에 추녀 없이 용마루까지 측면 벽이 삼각형으로 된 지붕.
  • 돈대(墩臺): 성안 높직한 평지에 높게 축조한 포대.
  • 천구만별(千龜萬鱉): 천 마리의 거북과 만 마리의 자라.

Watchtower No. 3 of Geumjeongsanseong Fortress

This watchtower, located on the slope between two boulders about 1 km to the north of the eastern gate of Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, consists of a stone platform and a wooden building with a gable roof. The current structure was rebuilt in 1979 after the original, established in 1707, had fallen into disrepair in the early 20th century. A rock-carved inscription, located about 10 m to the west of the watchtower, identifies this place as an outpost named Beonwidon, meaning “Outpost of Abundant Prestige.” Together with the surrounding rocks of Geumjeongsan Mountain, including the renowned Nabibawi (“Butterfly Rock”) and Buchaebawi (“Fan Rock”), the watchtower stands in harmony with the outstanding natural landscape.

영문 해설 내용

금정산성 동문에서 북쪽으로 약 1km 지점에 있는 두 암반 사이에 자리한 이 망루는 돌로 쌓은 축대와 맞배지붕 목조 건물로 이루어져 있다. 원래의 건물은 1707년에 처음 지어졌고 20세기 들어 방치되어 훼손되었다가 1979년 다시 지어졌다. 망루에서 서쪽으로 10여 m 떨어진 곳에 있는 바위에는 ‘번위돈(蕃威墩)’이라는 이름이 새겨져 있어 이곳이 돈대였음을 말해 주고 있다. 이 망루는 금정산에서 유명한 나비바위와 부채바위 등 주변의 여러 바위와 어우러져 아름다운 자연경관을 이루고 있다.
