해설문

양동마을에 있는 세 곳의 서당 중 하나로 무첨당 이의윤(無忝堂 李宜潤, 1564~1597)을 기리기 위해 세운 사당이다. 서당의 이름인 경산은 『시경(詩經)』에서 유래하였는데 오랜 세월 동안 기린다는 뜻이다. 헌종 1년(1835) 강동면 오금리에 처음 지어졌으나 철종 8년(1857) 강동면 안계리로 옮겨지고, 안계댐 공사로 인해 1970년 현재 자리로 이건 되었다. 안계리에 세워졌던 건물의 목재와 기와 등을 가져오면서 정원의 나무도 그대로 옮겨왔다고 한다.

이의윤은 조선중기의 문신이며, 회재 이언적(晦齋 李彦迪)의 맏손자로 양동마을 ‘무첨당’에서 종가를 형성하였다. 일찍이 조부의 영향으로 학문에 힘썼으며, 한강 정구(寒岡 鄭逑)의 문인이 되었다. 과거에 응시하지 않고 학문에만 힘썼다고 한다. 그의 묘는 포항 연일에 있으며, 유저로는 『무첨당선생문집(無忝堂先生文集)』이 있다.

Gyeongsanseodang Village Study Hall

Gyeongsanseodang Village Study Hall was established to venerate Yi Ui-yun (1564-1597, pen name: Mucheomdang). The name Gyeongsanseodang means “Village Study Hall of the Scenic Mountain” and was inspired by a phrase from the Chinese classic, the Book of Poetry.

Yi Ui-yun was the eldest grandson of the renowned scholar Yi Eon-jeok (1491-1553) and grew up at Mucheomdang House in Yangdong Village, which is named after his pen name. He studied diligently and became a student of Jeong Gu (1543-1620). He did not take the state examination to become an official and instead devoted himself to his scholarly studies.

This village study hall was first built in 1835 in Ogeum-ri and was moved to Angye-ri in 1857. It was moved to its current location in Yangdong Village in 1970 due to the construction of the Angye Dam. At the time of the relocation, even the trees in the garden were moved as well.
