Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark: Unique Geological Formations of International Renown

Narrative

Mudeungsan Mountain is home to the Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark, which was designated in 2018. The geopark covers are area over 1,000 km2 and boasts 20 geological attractions that span seven geological periods, including include dinosaur footprints and trackways such as the Dinosaur Tracksite in Seoyu-ri, Hwasun, waterfalls such as Simujigi Falls, rock outcrops such as Sinseondae Rock and [[무등산_광석대|Gwangseokdae] Rock], peaks such as Sainbong Peak, ridges such as Baengmaneungseon Ridge, stony slopes such as Jigong Stony Slope and Deoksan Stony Slope, wind holes, caves, and more. The mountain is also the venue of the Gwangju Silvergrass Flower Festival held along Jangbuljae Pass.
