[[이청준|Yi Chong-jun (1939-2008)]] is a key figure in Korean literature from the Jeolla region. His education at [[광주서중학교|Gwangju Seo Middle School]], where he studied under colonial independence activist and Protestant minister [[강봉우|Kang Bong-u (1892-1970)]], and later [[광부제일고등학교|Gwangju Jeil High School]], laid the foundation for his literary career.
