Gwangju is home to 103 dolmens, including those in Samgeo-dong and Yongdu-dong, which are designated as Gwangju Cultural Heritage Materials. The dolmens in Samgeo-dong comprise 49 dolmens in two groups in an area of 200 m. The nearby Chilseong Village, meaning “Seven Stars” is named after these dolmens, of which there are seven of particular size. The dolmens in Yongdu-dong include 10 dolmens remaining in their complete state. It is presumed there would have been 2-3 more dolmens in the vicinity based on the remains.
