Dongmyeong Dongnidan Stamp Tour: A Collection of Culture and Cuisine

Narrative

The Dongmyeong Dongnidan Stamp Tour offers visitors an interactive way to explore the cultural and culinary diversity of Dongnidan-gil Cafe Street through a collection of participating venues that each provide unique experiences and stamp collection opportunities.

The tour encompasses several distinctive museums that showcase different aspects of Korean culture and history. The Bium Museum preserves the identity of Korean culture through simple folk crafts from the agricultural era, displaying items that reflect the skill, taste, and spirit of Korean people. The World Camera and Movie Museum houses an extensive collection of approximately 1,800 cameras and 5,000 related items gathered by director Lee Su-hwan during 20 years of world travel. The museum’s second and third halls display film production cameras and projectors, demonstrating the filmmaking process and screening 16mm black-and-white films and animations from the mid-1900s.

Cultural and artistic venues add depth to the tour experience. Art Space Jip provides contemporary art exhibitions, while Jieum Bookstore offers literary culture and reading spaces. The tour also includes various cafes and restaurants such as Gimnaetgwa, Kong House, and establishments with charming names like Gaemuni Pretty House and Daemuni Pretty House.

This stamp tour creates a structured yet flexible way for visitors to discover the neighborhood’s blend of traditional culture, contemporary art, and local cuisine while encouraging exploration of both well-known and hidden gems throughout the district.
