Definition

【1700년(숙종 26) ~ 1755년(영조 31) 】. 신치운(申致雲). 나주괘서사건에 연루되어 처형된 소론 정치가. 1721년(경종 1) 문과 급제, 소론의 신예로서 신임사화 때 노론의 거두였던 권상하(權尙夏)·이희조(李喜朝) 등을 축출하는 데 앞장섰다. 이듬해 홍문관수찬을 거쳐, 승문원교리로 있을 때 죽은 송시열(宋時烈), 송준길을 공박하는 소장을 올렸다가 어진 사람을 무고하였다는 이유로 파직 당하였다. 1755년 나주괘서사건이 있은 직후 심정연(沈鼎衍)·김인제(金寅濟)·박사집(朴師緝) 등과 함께 모반사건에 연루되어 경상도 흥해군에 유배되었다가 숭례문에서 처형 당하였다.
