Definition

【1844~1939】. 미국남감리회(The Methodist Episcopal Church, South). 노예제에 대한 견해 차이로 1844년 미국감리회 총회에서 남북으로 분열됨. 1939년 다시 남북 감리회 통합(The Methodist Church). 미국 남감리회의 한국 선교는 미국 남감리회 선교사의 주선으로 미국 남부의 밴더빌트, 에모리 대학에서 유학했던 윤치호의 요청으로 1895년부터 본격화 됨. 서울 배화학당, 개성 한영서원, 호수돈여학교 등 설립. 1930년 북감리회와 통합하여 조선감리교회 창립.
