기별청 현판

Definition

‘기별(奇別)’은 ‘소식을 알린다’는 뜻이다. 이 뜻을 빌려, 승정원에서 그 날 그 날의 일을 아침마다 적어서 알리는 관보(官報)를 기별이라고 불렀다.
현판은 2001년에 설치하였으며, 서예가이자 서예 이론가이기도 한현암(玄庵) 정상옥(鄭祥玉)이 쓰고 오옥진이 새겼다. 예서체로 썼기 때문에 정자(正字)와는 모양과 획수가 약간 다르다.
