흠흠신서

Definition

조선후기 실학자 정약용이 형사사건의 조사·심리·처형 과정을 다루는 관리들을 계몽하기 위해 1822년에 편찬한 법제서이다. 흠흠(欽欽)이란 걱정이 되어 잊지 못하는 모양을 말하는 것으로, 죄수에 대하여 신중히 심의(審議)하는 흠휼(欽恤)사상에 입각하여 재판하라는 뜻이 담겨있다.
