환도

Definition

환도는 조선시대 가장 기본적인 칼로 칼등과 칼날로 구분된 외날 형태이다. 중국이나 일본의 칼에 비해 대체로 길이가 짧다. 환도는 칼집에 달린 금속 고리인 띠돈에 가죽띠를 연결해 주고 허리에 차고 다녀 패도(佩刀)라고 했다.
