초양문 현판

Definition

‘‘초양(初陽)’이란 ‘처음 나타나는 양의 기운’을 의미한다. 아침 해 혹은 아침 햇살을 초양이라 하기도 하고, 또 동지에서 입춘 이전까지의 시간을 초양이라 부르기도 한다. 또 초양은 이른 봄을 뜻하기도 하고 비유적으로 성세(盛世)를 가리키기도 한다. 청나라 옹방강의 글씨를 집자한 것이다. 오른쪽 위에 ‘復初齋(복초재)’, 왼쪽 아래에 ‘覃溪(담계)’라는 낙관이 새겨져 있다. 둘 다 옹방강의 호이다.
