유현문 현판

Definition

유현문(惟賢門)은 ‘오직 어진이가 출입하는 문’이란 의미이다. 『서경』「무성(武成)」 편에 “관직에는 어진이를 세우고, 일에는 유능한 이를 쓴다.(建官惟賢, 位事惟能.)”는 구절이 있다.

글씨는 전서(篆書)로 되어 있다. 유현문은 전돌을 아치형으로 쌓고, 글씨 좌우에 봉황을 새겨 넣는 등 매우 공들여 만들었다.
