해설문
기존 국문
19세기 중엽에 건립된 평산신씨(平山申氏) 송곡파(松谷派)의 종택이다. 전통적인 상류계층의 가옥구조를 갖춘 ‘口’자형 건물이다.
책방을 사랑방과 마루방 중간에 둔 것은 학문을 중시한 배치방법이라고 볼 수 있다. 그리고 고방과 책방, 사랑을 나란히 배열한 이유는 손님을 맞는 공간과 독서와 시문(詩文)을 짓는 공간을 함께 갖추기 위한 것으로 볼 수 있다. 별당은 정면 3칸, 측면 1칸 반이다. 원래 이 집은 예안면 서부리 165번지에 있었으나, 안동댐 건설로 인하여 1975년 현 위치로 이건하였다.
