In the third week of the program we headed towards Gyeongju province for a 3 days trip. We stopped by Yongin Korean Folk Village on the way to Gyeongju. Even though we were on a tight schedule and the weather was not on our side, we were able to enjoy live Samulnori performances and traditional Korean wedding. Anapji area was where we watched the sunset. The palace was built for the silla royal family and it was surrounded by beautiful gardens and ponds. perhaps the most anticipated event was where people gather to watch the sunset around the pond when lights surrounding the palace glow and reflect on the pond.

The second day was dedicated to visiting historical tombs that are shaped like small hills. We also saw incredible artifacts that were particular to Gyeongju province in Gyeongju national museum. The evening was spent by the beach where the underground tomb of king Munmu was located. Some friends enjoyed dipping in the refreshing east sea and overall we made unforgettable memories.

On the final day we visited temples and saw impressive buddha statues. What left an impression was the 'golden pig' statue that supposedly brings good fortunes if you rub it. Overall it was a wonderful and well organized short trip. Personally I wish my health was in better condition so I could enjoy it to the fullest but nevertheless I had a wonderful time.
