On the scale of three hundred animals the dragon is the chief. It gets clouds and it just goes through rain. If it is seen it is in the field. If it is flying it is in the sky. Its changes can not be predictable.

The way the lin is an animal is that it has one horn and five paw fingers. It is not raised inside the house. It is not always under the heaven. It waits for sages men and then it appears [to them].

  • Discussion Questions:

+ For the word 物 I though about how to translate it not as "thing" but differently. I wanted to translate it as "creature" but then I thought about the word 動物 which means "animal" and used it since I thought it was more appropriate.

The seagulls are the water chicken. On thousands of waves the seagulls float and sink many times. With old fishermen they look for alliance. With seafarers they play.
