폐비 윤씨

Definition

폐비 윤씨(廢妃 尹氏:미상~1482) 조선 제9대 성종의 계비. 본관은 파평(坡平).성종(成宗)의 계비이자, 연산군의 어머니이다. 판봉상시사 윤기무(尹起畝)의 딸이다. 처음 후궁으로 입궐하여 연산군을 낳았고, 공혜왕후의 죽음으로 1476년 왕비로 책봉되었다. 후궁으로 있을 때는 인수대비의 총애를 받았으나 왕비가 된 후 질투심이 많고 남편 성종에게 불경하다는 평가를 죄목으로 3년이 채 안돼서 폐위 되기에 이르렀다. 조정에서는 세자의 생모라는 이유에서 윤씨를 살려두고자 했으나 왕실의 의견에 따라 1482년 음력 8월 16일 사약을 받았다. 후에 연산군에 의해 제헌왕후(齊憲王后)에 추숭되고, 회릉(懷陵)이라는 능묘를 받았으나 중종 반정으로 다시 폐위되고 회릉은 폐비윤씨지묘(廢妃尹氏之墓)가 되었다. 묘는 경기도 고양시 덕양구 원신동(元新洞)의 서삼릉 내에 있다.
