응지당 현판

Definition

‘응지(膺祉)’는 ‘복을 받음’을 뜻한다. ‘응(膺)’은 ‘받음’을, ‘지(祉)’는‘복’을 의미한다. ‘응’의 출처는 『서경』의 「필명(畢命)」 편 등에서 살필 수 있다. 「필명」 편에서는 “주공(周公)께서 능히 그 처음을 신중히 하였고 군진(君陳)이 가운데를 화합하게 하였으며, 필공(畢公)이 능히 그 끝을 이루어, 세 임금이 마음을 합하여 함께 바른 도(道)에 이르렀다. 그 도가 두루 펴지고 정사가 다스려져서 백성들이 윤택하게 하며 또한 옷을 왼쪽으로 여며 입는 사방의 오랑캐들까지 모두 의지하지 않음이 없으니, 나 소자(小子)는 길이 많은 복을 받을[膺] 것이다.”라고 하였다. 현판은 1995년에 설치하였으며, 운암(雲菴) 조용민(趙鏞敏)이 쓰고 오옥진이 새겼다. 서체는 행서체이다.
