지킬박사는 임상실험에 대한 이사회의 동의를 얻지 못한 심란한 마음을 가지는데 클럽에서 자신이 구해준 루시에게 직업을 물은것에대한 답변으로 "의사입니다"라며 소개했지만 "제가 볼땐 환자같은데요?"라는 말에 자신 또한 의사이자 환자가 될수 있다는 생각을 가지게 된다. 뮤지컬에서 서재에서 독백처럼 노래를 부르다 도중 실험실로 무대가 바뀌고 장면전환과 노래를 끝으로 자신에게 약을 주입시켜 제 2의 악으로 가득찬 하이드의 존재를 만들어낸다. 아버지를 위해 자신에게 있어 아주 소중하고 절실한 이 꿈이 성공하기를 희망하고 기도하는 노래지만 이것은 비극의 시작이 되고 만다.
