내가 기억하는 문화유산

- 기억하는 이유
문화유산은 아니지만.. 어릴 때 살던 곳과 가까워서 자주 지나다녔고 이른 새벽의 모습, 한낮의 모습, 노을 질 때의 모습, 별이 총총한 밤의 모습, 함박눈이 펑펑 내릴 때의 모습까지 아직도 생생하다. 한번은 할머니 댁에 다녀오던 중 난데없는 폭설로 고갯길 한가운데 고립된 적이 있었는데, 당황해서 어쩔 줄 모르는 부모님과 달리 오빠와 나는 마냥 신기하고 즐거웠던 기억이 있다.

- ↑ 총길이 15㎞에 이르는 장대한 계곡으로 울진군 근남면 행곡리에서 서면 하원리까지 이어진다. 1979년 12월 명승 제6호, 1983년 10월 군립공원으로 각각 지정되었다. 신라 진덕여왕 때 의상(義湘)이 창건한 불영사가 있어 불영사계곡이라고도 부른다. 여름에는 계곡 피서지로 알맞고 봄·가을에는 드라이브 코스로도 제격이다. 겨울에는 설경이 빼어나다. 불영사에는 크고 작은 12동의 가람(伽藍)과 대웅보전(보물 1201), 부도(경북문화재자료 162), 삼층석탑(경북유형문화재 135) 등 문화재가 많다. 또 주변 일대에는 천연기념물 96호로 지정된 굴참나무 숲이 우거진다.
