I do not think that it is generally noted by the Board, that the Seoul station is not for Seoul alone but for a large section of country that surrounds it and in addition that, being a central station, a great deal of the detail of Mission work falls to the share of the members of the Seoul station. As a consequence, we are unable to give the same time to evangelistic work that they are in Pyeng Yang, and yet we have a larger territory to cover than they have and if we compare the number of workers we have a larger work. To lay aside the comparison of the number of workers however, the reports of the various stations show most plainly that our actual work is not behind that of the North. I would like to call your attention to the opening up of the work in Mr. Miller's section in the South east of Kyeng Ki Do. It was a most remarkable opening and yet Mr. Miller had to go home and nothing has been done during his absence. That work alone would have brought us almost up to Pyeng Yang in numbers.
Your king letter of June 22, came duly to hand and I was very glad to get the kind words of encouragement that it contained and to hear of what you are endeavoring to do for Korea. I am glad to hear that you are realising the needs of Seoul station, for we are certainly in a most destitute condition. We have not reached to their number of catechumens because our method of enrollment differs so entirely, |
