|원문7=<div style="text-align:justify">I enclose some pages cut from a recent number of "The Truth" referring to alleged misrepresentations as to missionary results in Korea. Dr. Ellinwood has written to you and also to the Mission referring to this article but was unable at the time to forward a copy. I now forward the article itself for your perusal, but I am requested to say by the officers of the Board, that they particularly desire to have any reply sent here so that the Board may have the first reading, and it may then be used with the authority of the Board and its endorsement. The meaning of this request is not that a reply is not wished for, but simply that it may pass through this office as we should be interested in it and should desire to use it to the best advantage.</div>
|원문8=<div style="text-align:justify">The magazine is published in the interest of the premillennarian view of Christ's coming, and I think there is a tendency in the periodical to deprecate missionary results in the interest of the theory that the world is growing to grow worse until Christ's coming.</div>
|원문9=<div style="text-align:justify">The Mission voted $250.00 gold with which to make these changes. If the changes are not made, I am afraid the house will not be habitable for my wife another winter. If the changes are made they must begin this spring so as to be in part dry before the rainy season. Of course the Board must vote the cost before we can use it & so as to enable me to begin almost as soon as spring opens would you telegraph me the result of the Board's action on the matter. If they vote the appropriation please telegraph "Underwood Seoul Bricks." If they refuse it "Underwood Seoul No" Charge the telegram to my account.</div>
