These stone statues, which display great sculptural style and technique, date back to the Goryeo period (918-1392).

They were found at a temple site near the Musimcheon Stream and moved to Yonghwasa Temple in 1902 when the temple was established.

Yonghwabojeon Hall was built to house these statues in 1995, and four of the statues were moved again to the newly constructed Geungnakjeon Hall in 2008.

The seven statues represent various Buddhas and a mythical Indian Buddhist layman, Vimalakirti.

The height of the statues ranges from 1.4 m to 5.5 m.

==국문 해설문==

이 불상들은 원래 무심천 주위에 방치되어 있었던 것으로, 용화사를 창건하면서 옮긴 것이다.

1995년에 이 불상들을 보호하기 위해 용화보전을 크게 신축하였다.

현재 극락전에는 유마거사좌상·보현보살좌상·미륵불입상 등 4구가 안치되어 있고, 용화전에는 약사여래불·미륵불·석가모니불이 있다.

2008년 극락전을 신축하여 용화보전 앞쪽에 모신 4구를 다시 안치한 것이다.

석가모니불상의 뒷면에 큰 나한상이 조각되었는데 이는 매우 드문 사례이다.

이 칠존불상들은 장륙불 또는 그 이상의 거대한 불상군이며 뛰어난 조각 수법을 보여주고 있어, 고려시대의 귀중한 불상으로 높이 평가되고 있다.

현재의 용화사는 1902년(고종 광무 6) 창건 할 때의 상량문에 사찰을 창건하게 된 내력이 기록되어 있다.

1901년(광무 5) 엄비의 꿈에 청주에서 일곱 분의 부처가 나타나 집을 지어 달라 하여 사람을 보내어 조사하니, 무심천변에 석불들이 있어 사찰을 세우고 안치하였다고 전한다.
