Especially, ginseng was one of the highest traded product. Ginseng has cultivated in the Korean peninsula since the Three Kingdoms era. During the unification of the Later three Kingdoms the ginseng that was grown on the Korean peninsula, was commonly called as Korean ginseng.

Gyeongsang province is the representative cultivation area of Korean ginseng, and since the middle of Goryeo period, Korean ginseng has continued to become a famous ginseng.
개성지역이 고려 인삼의 대표적인 재배지로서 고려 중기 이후 고려 인삼의 명맥을 이어가면서 개성 고려 인삼이 유명하게 되었다.
