OAI(Open Archives Initiative) : [1]

 an organization to develop and apply technical interoperability standards for archives to share catalog information (metadata).[1] It attempts to build a "low-barrier interoperability framework" for archives (institutional repositories) containing digital content (digital libraries). It allows people (service providers) to harvest metadata (from data providers). This metadata is used to provide "value-added services", often by combining different data sets.
 
 OAI는 목록정보(메타데이터)를 공유하기 위한 아카이브를 위한 기술적 상호운용성 표준을 개발하고 적용하는 조직. 디지털 콘텐츠를 포함하는 아카이브를 위해 "낮은 장벽의 상호운용성 프레임워크"를 구축하고자 한다. 그것은 서비스 공급자들이 데이터공급자로부터 메타데이터를 얻을 수 있게 한다. 이 메타데이터는 종종 다른 데이터셋과 결합함으로써 "가치가 부가된 서비스"를 제공하기 위해 이용된다. 

 The OAI technical infrastructure, specified in the Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) version 2.0, defines a mechanism for data providers to expose their metadata. This protocol mandates that individual archives map their metadata to the Dublin Core, a common metadata set for this purpose. OAI standards allow a common way to provide content, and part of those standards is that the content has metadata that describes the items in Dublin Core format. Object Reuse and Exchange (OAI-ORE) defines standards for the description and exchange of aggregations of web resources.
 
 OAI-PMH 버전2.0에 명세화된 OAI의 기술적 하부구조는 그들의 메타데이터를 드러내기 위해 데이터 공급자들을 위한 메커니즘을 정의한다. 이 프로토콜은 개별 아카이브가 그들이 메타데이터를 더블린 코어(이 목적에 가장 흔한 메타데이터 집합)에 표시할 것을 지시한다. OAI 표준은 공통의 방식으로 콘텐츠를 공급할수 있게 하고 이러한 표준의 일부는 DC포맷에서의 항목을 묘사하는 메타데이터를 가진 콘텐츠이다. OAI-ORE는 웹자원을 기술하고 교환하기 위한 표준을 정의한다.

OAI-ORE(Object Reuse and Exchange)

 OAI-ORE defines standards for the description and exchange of aggregations of web resources. The OAI-ORE specification implements the ORE Model which introduces the resource map (ReM) that makes it possible to associate an identity with aggregations of resources and make assertions about their structure and semantics.
 
 웹 자원 집합을 기술하고 교환하기 위한 표준을 정의. OAI-ORE명세서는 자원맵(ReM)을 도입하는 ORE모델을 시행한다. 자원맵은 자원들의 집합과 정체성을 결합하고 그들의 구조와 의미구조에 대해 주장할 수 있게 한다. 

 These aggregations (sometimes called compound digital objects or compound information objects) may combine distributed resources together, and with multiple media types including text, images, data, and video. The goal of OAI-ORE is to expose the rich content in aggregations to applications that support authoring, deposit, exchange, visualization, reuse, and preservation.
 
 이 집합은(때로 컴파운드 디지털 오브젝트 또는 컴파운드 정보 오브젝트로 불리는) 분산된 자원들을 텍스트, 이미지, 데이터, 비디오를 포함하는 다양한 미디어 유형과 함께 결합할 수도 있다. OAI-ORE의 목적은 저술, 축적, 교환, 시각화, 재사용, 보존을 지원하는 어플리케이션에 풍부한 콘텐츠를 드러내는 것이다.

OAI-PMH(Protocol for Metadata Harvesting)

 The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a protocol developed for harvesting metadata descriptions of records in an archive so that services can be built using metadata from many archives. An implementation of OAI-PMH must support representing metadata in Dublin Core, but may also support additional representations.
 
 아카이브에서 기록에 대한 메타데이터 기술을 얻기 위해 개발된 프로토콜(규약)로, 여러 서비스는 많은 아카이브로부터 메타데이터를 이용할수 있게 구축될 것이다. OAI-PMH의 실행은 더블린코어에서 메타데이터를 표현하는 방식만을 지원하지만 다른 표현 방식도 지원할 수 있다.
