- What is CBDB?
- CBDB는 중국인명데이터베이스로, 7c-19c의 중국 역사 인물들에 대한 관계 데이터베이스.
- 인물에 관한 정보(이름, 생년/몰년, 본관?(ancestral place), 혈연관계, 사회적 관계 등)제공. 2018년 10월 기준 약 42만명.
- 중국 역사학자 Robert M. Hartwell에 의해 시작됨.
- History of CBDB
- Robert M. Hartwell (1932 – 1996)이 'China Historical Software'의 일부로 갖고 있던 데이터셋과 프로그램에 기반.
- Michael A. Fuller가 2004-2005년에 다시 디자인하고, 포맷을 변환함. (CBDBWin, CBDB.mdb)
- 2009년 2월, the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies로 권리 이전.

- 연구방법론(METHODOLOGY)
- 인물연구(Prosopography) : the investigation of the common background characteristics of a group of actors in history by means of a collective study of their lives. 역사 속 인물 집단의 삶에 대한 집합적인 연구의 수단으로써 그들의 공통적인 배경 특성을 조사하는 것.
- GIS: Mapping and Analyzing : GIS(ArcGIS or MapInfo)를 이용하여 CBDB와 CHGIS(the China Historical GIS)를 결합할 수 있음.
