受賞賜。是日陰。禮部吏鄭春，王敏，王瑍等來叫臣之手下程保等四十餘人以歸。臣獨留館。程保等入闕庭。受賞賜而來。臣所受。素紵絲衣一套，內紅段子圓領一件，黑綠段子褶子一件，靑段子褡𧞤一件，鞾一雙，氈襪一對，綠綿布二匹。程保以下四十二人。胖襖各一件，綿袴各一件，䩺鞋各一雙。李翔討錢。與市傍寫書求錢者寫狀。報鴻臚寺云。朝鮮國人崔溥等爲 賞賜事。爲因漂海到於浙江。解送到京。今蒙 欽賞衣服，胖襖，鞾鞵等件。合赴鴻臚寺報名。四月二十日。早謝 恩云云。翔謂程保曰。告你官。明早以吉服來謝 皇帝之恩。有徐序班者忘其名來點。程保等具冠帶。敎以肅拜節次之儀。徐雖號爲通事。不善解我國之語。臣令程保同把門者一人。往尋李翔之家。告臣意曰。親喪固所自盡也。若服華盛之衣。謂之非孝。我亦人子。其可輕釋喪服。處身於非孝之名乎。翔曰。今日我與禮部尙書大人已議之。當是時。親喪輕天恩重。拜謝之禮。不可廢也。夜四更時。分東長安門外。都要 賞賜衣服來莫悞。夕。韃靼大寧衛男女十五人。自其國逃來。寓于西會同館。
상을 받았습니다.
이 날은 흐렸습니다.
예부의 서리 정춘(鄭春), 왕민(王敏), 왕환(王煥) 등이 와서 신의 손아랫사람 정보 등 40여 인을 데려갔으므로 신은 혼자 객관(客館)에 남았습니다.
정보 등이 대궐에 들어가 상을 받아 왔습니다.
신이 받은 것은 소저사의(素紵絲衣, 흰 모시옷) 1벌, 내홍단자[1](內紅段子圓領, 붉은 비단으로 속을 댄 원령) 1건(件), 흑록단자습자(黑綠段子智子, 흑록색 비단으로 만든 습자) 1건, 청단자답호(靑段子裕樓, 청색 비단으로 만든 답호) 1건, 신발 1쌍, 전말(旣樓, 털로 짠 버선) 1대(對), 녹면포(綠綿布) 2필이고, 정보 이하 42인이 받은 것은 반오(胖模)이 각 1건, 면고(綿榜)2 각 1건, 옹혜(鞋) 각 1쌍이었습니다.
이상(李翔)이 돈을 달라고 하여 시장 가에서 돈 받고 글을 써 주는 사람에게 주어 홍려시에 올리는 서장(書狀)을 쓰도록 하였는데,
“조선국 사람 최부 등 : 상을 내려주신 데 대하여 바다에 표류되어 절강에 도착했다가 경사로 호송되어 왔는데 지금 황제께서 내려주시는 상으로 의복, 반오, 신발 등을 받았으니 마땅히 홍려시에 나아가서 이름을 등록하고, 4월 20일 아침에 황제의 은혜에 사례하겠습니다” 라는 등의 내용이었습니다.
이상이 정보에게 말하기를,
“당신의 상관(上官)에게 알려서 내일 아침에 길복 차림으로 와서 황제의 은혜에 사례하도록 하시오”라고 하였습니다.
이름을 잊었지만 서(徐) 서반(序班)이란 사람이 와서 정보 등이 갖춘 관대(冠帶)를 점검하고 숙배(肅拜) 절차의 의례를 가르쳐 주었습니다.
서 서반은 비록 통사라고는 했지만 우리말을 잘 알지 못하였습니다.
신은 정보를 시켜 문지기 1명과 같이 이상의 집을 찾아가서 신의 뜻을 알리기를,
“친상은 진실로 자기의 진실을 다해야 하는 것인데 만약 화려한 옷을 입는다면 효가 아닙니다. 나 또한 자식된 자로서 어찌 경솔히 상복을 벗어 불효의 오명을 뒤집어 쓸 수 있겠습니까?”라고 하였습니다.
이상이 말하기를,
“오늘 내가 예부상서 대감과 함께 이미 의논했는데, 지금 이 때는 친상이 가볍고 천은(天恩)이 무거우니 배사(拜謝)하는 예절을 그만 둘 수 없습니다. 밤 4경쯤에 동장안문(東長安門)65 밖에서 상으로 하사받은 의복을 입도록 해야 하며, 어김이 없어야 합니다”라고 하였습니다.
저녁에 달단(達旦)의 대영위(大寧衛) 남녀 15인이 그들의 본국에서 도망해 와서 서회동관(西會同館)에 묵었습니다.
19th Day. Receiving Awards. This day was cloudy.
Sub-officials of the Ministry of Rites, Cheng Ch’un, Wang Min, and Wang Huan, came and summoned Chong Po and the other forty-odd men in my charge and went back. I stayed alone at the house. Chong Po and the others entered the Palace, received the awards, and came back. The things I had received were one undyed grass cloth gown, one inner red satin round-collar, one black and green satin lined gown, one blue satin money-bag, one pair of boots, one pair of felt socks, and two rolls of green cotton cloth. For each of the forty-two men from Chong Po down, there were one padded jacket, one pair of padded trousers, and one pair of Wu boots. Li Hsiang demanded money and, with a man at the side of a market who wrote letters for money, wrote an account to report to the Court of State Ceremonial. It said, “In the matter of awards, the Koreans Ch’oe Pu and others, having drifted across the sea to Chekiang and been sent to the capital, have now respectfully received awards of gowns, padded jackets, boots, and other things. It is fitting that their names be reported to the Court of State Ceremonial. On the morning of the 20th Day, Fourth Month, they will acknowledge the Imperial graciousness.” Li Hsiang said to Chòng Po, “Inform your official that tomorrow morning he is to come in festive dress and give thanks for the Emperor's graciousness.” There was a ceremonies official, Hsü, whose given name I have forgotten, who came and inspected Chong Po and the others, putting on their hats and sashes and teaching them the order of prostrations. Although Hsü was called an interpreter, he did not understand our language well. I ordered Chong Po to go with one gate-keeper to seek Li Hsiang's house and tell him how I felt: “Mourning for a parent is something that one must observe. To wear beautiful clothes is to be unfilial. I am human; how can I take off my mourning clothes and put myself in the position of being unfilial ?” Li Hsiang said, “I discussed that today with His Excellency the Minister of Rites. For the time being, mourning for a parent will be unimportant and Heaven's graciousness important. In the fourth watch of the night, all the necessary award clothing will come to the outside of East Ch’ang-an Gate. Do not cause delay.” In the evening, fifteen men and women from Ta-ning Garrison, Tatary,13 came in flight from their country and lodged at the West Central Post Hotel.
