상우현(上虞縣)을 지났습니다.

이 날은 맑았습니다.

큰 다리 둘을 지나 올라갔습니다.

강 남쪽에서 어떤 관인이 가마를 타고 왔는데 바로 상우지현(上虞知縣)230이 현성에서 온 것이었습니다. 상우현성은 강 언덕에서 2-3리가량 떨어져 있었습니다. 또 황포교(黃浦橋), 화도포(華渡鋪), 채묘포(蔡墓鋪), 대판교(大板橋), 보청운문(步靑雲門), 신교포(新橋鋪)를 지나 조아역(曹娥驛)에 이르렀는데 역승은 서심(徐深)이었습니다.

역 북쪽에 방죽이 있었습니다. 배를 놓아두고 방죽을 지나 도보로 조아강(曹熊江)에 이르러 강을 가로질러 건넜습니다.

건너편 언덕에 또 방죽이 있었습니다.

방죽과 양호순검사(梁湖巡檢司)는 남북으로 서로 마주 보고 있었습니다.

또 배를 놓아두고 방죽을 지나 서쪽으로 2리를 걸어서 동관역(東關驛)에 이르렀습니다.

다시 배를 타고 문창교(文昌橋), 동관포(東關鋪), 경령교(景靈橋), 황가언포(黃家嘎鋪), 과산포(瓜山鋪), 도가언포(陶家堰鋪), 모양포(茅洋鋪)를 지났습니다.

밤 4경233에 이름을 모르는 강기슭에 이르러 유숙하였습니다.

We went upstream past two big bridges. On the south side of the river, an official came riding in a sedan-chair. He was the Magistrate of Shan-yü County and he came from the county seat, which was two or three li from the bank of the river.
We then passed [more bridges, stops, and a gate and] came to Ts'ao-ê Station, where the Station Master was Hsü Shen. An embankment was north of the station. We left the boats, passed the embankment, walked to the Ts'ao-ê River, and went straight across it. On the opposite bank was another embankment, which faced the Liang-hu Police Station north to south. Again we left the boats and walked past the embankment, coming to Tung-kuan Station, two li to the west. We got into boats again and [proceeded past several stops]. In the fourth watch of the night we reached the bank of a river, the name of which I do not know, and moored for the night.
