Definition

목포무선전신소 설치(木浦無線電信所 設置, 1910.11.21.~1925.4.30.) 러일 전쟁 당시 일본이 군사용으로 목포 앞바다 팔구포 옥도에 무선전신취급소를 설치하였고, 1910(명치 43)년 11월 목포로 옮겨 목포무선전신소라 칭하였다. 일본해군이 옥도를 점령한 가장 큰 이유는 인근 해역을 지나는 함선과의 연락을 위한 무선전신취급소 설치였다. 목포무선전신소는 조선에 있어서 무선전신의 최초의 시설로서 1910년 8월 25일 기공, 11월 21일 완성하고 그날부터 통신을 개시하였다. 목포부 항정 2번지 세관산이라 불리는 언덕에 건설하였다.
