Japanese Style Commercial Building of Beonhwa-ro in Mokpo - 2 was built in downtown Mokpo during the Japanese colonial period. It was located by the roadside at the intersection where Boksanjeong (currently, Bokman-dong) and Haengjeong (currently, Haengbok-dong) meet. It belonged to Boksanjeong. Its first owner was Japanese merchant Morita Sensuke, who operated the Jeonnam Fertilizer Partnership Co., Mokpo Distilled Spirits Sale Co., and the Morita Store, and it is presumed to have been used as a confectionery.
The building is a two-story wooden structure with a narrow front facing the road and a longer structure inside. On the left-hand side of the building is a stone firewall that was erected to prevent fire. The wooden staircase and the original part of the second-floor residence are preserved intact, with a small courtyard and a well inside.
This commercial building exhibits the traces, historicity, and location of a typical commercial street lined with mixed-use buildings during the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea.

목포 번화로 일본식 상가주택-2

목포 번화로 일본식 상가 주택-2는 일제 강점기 목포 상업의 중심 지역에 세운 주상복합 건물이다. 이 건물은 당시 복산정(福山町, 현 복만동)과 행정(幸町, 현 행복동)이 교차하는 사거리의 도로변에 있었는데, 복산정에 속했다. 이 건물의 최초 소유자는 전남 비료 합명 회사, 목포 소주 판매 회사, 모리타 상점(守田商店) 등을 운영한 일본 상인 ‘모리타 센스케(守田千助)’인데, 과자점 등으로 이용하였을 것으로 추정한다.
이 건물은 도로에 접한 정면 부분이 좁고, 안쪽이 더 길게 지어진 2층 목조 건물이다. 건물의 왼편에 화재를 예방하기 위한 석조 방화벽이 있다. 지금도 나무 계단과 2층 주택부의 원형이 그대로 보존되어 있으며, 안쪽에 작은 마당과 우물이 있다.
이 건물은 일제 강점기 주상 복합 건물 기능을 형성한 상업 거리의 흔적, 역사성, 장소성을 보여 주는 상가 건물이다.

근대기 목포의 대표적 번화가이자 상업중심거리였던 번화로 일대에서 구 동아부인상회 목포지점 건너편에 위치한 상가건물로 일제강점기 과자점이 있었던 것으로 추정되며 가늘고 긴 대지에 전면도로에 면한 정면은 좁고 안쪽으로 매우 길게 2층 목조 건물을 구성하였으며, 근대기 목포 지역의 대표적 상업거리의 흔적, 역사성, 장소성을 보여주는 상가건물이다.
