목포철공합명회사(木浦鐵工合名會社)는 1905년(乙巳, 明治38년)에 설립되었다. 이는 러일전쟁이 끝난 이후에 공장과 선박 방면의 요구에 자극으로 만들어진 것이다. 그리고 해양운송이 활발하여 같은 해 大阪상선주식회사가 목포부 부두에 지점을 설치하였다. [1]
