==Definition==

[[약사사|약사사(藥師寺, 1926~ )]]는 일본 불교 임제종 동북파의 목포포교소로서 1926년 일본 승려 金山宗榮에 의해 남교동에서 시작되었다. 이듬해 1927년 4월 21일 만호동 옛 목포진 언덕위 100평 부지에 16평 2층 건물의 사찰을 건립하였다. 본당은 일본식 목조 건축으로 하였고, 경내에는 대웅전과 칠성각이 있었다. 1930년엔 물을 담는 석조와 1935년엔 불상을 건립하였다. 일제시기 신도 수는 200여명에 달했다. 해방이후 대한불교조계종에서 인수하여 대흥사 말사로 이어지고 있다. 목포시문화유산 제 21호로 지정되어 있다.
