해설문

국문

충무사는 이순신의 영정을 모신 사당이다. 영정은 종이품 통제사의 관복 차림으로 그려져 있다. 매년 봄 ․ 가을에는 통영시민들이 제승당(制勝堂)에서 제사를 올린다. 또 한산대첩 기념일인 8월 14일(양력)에는 해군작전사령관과 해군사관생도들이 참배한다. 통영시는 한산대첩제를 성대히 거행하여 이순신의 정신을 기리며 이어가고 있다.

사당에는 국보 제76호인 서간첩(書簡帖)의 일부와 이순신이 중국 송나라 역사를 읽고 썼던 독후감이 병풍으로 만들어져 보관되어 있다. 현재의 이순신 영정은 1978년에 사적을 정비할 때 정형모 화백이 그린 것이다.

영문

Chungmusa Shrine

This shrine contains a portrait of Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598). This portrait was painted in 1978. Yi Sun-sin is depicted wearing the uniform of a navy commander. An ancestral rite is performed here twice a year, in spring and fall. On the anniversary of the Battle of Hansan (August 14th), a commander of fleet and navy cadets come here to honor Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

There are two folding screens, one at each side of the portrait. The one at the left bears the fragment of the letter (National Treasure No. 76) sent by Yi Sun-sin to his acquaintance. The one at the right is inscribed with his impressions he had written down about the book on the history of Song China he had read.

영문 해설 내용

충무사는 이순신의 영정을 모신 사당이다. 영정은 1978년에 그린 것으로, 통제사의 관복 차림을 입은 모습을 그렸다. 매년 봄과 가을에 제사를 올리고 있으며, 한산대첩 기념일인 8월 14일에는 해군작전사령관과 해군사관생도들이 참배한다.

중앙에 걸린 영정 좌우에는 병풍이 놓여있다. 왼쪽 병풍은 이순신이 지인에게 보냈던 서간첩(국보 제76호)의 일부로 만든 것이고, 오른쪽 병풍은 중국 송나라 역사를 읽고 썼던 독후감의 일부로 만든 것이다.
