Yeongsanam Hermitage of Bongjeongsa Temple, Andong

Yeongsanam is an affiliated hermitage of Bongjeongsa Temple. It is located 100 m to the east of the temple. Its name, "Yeongsan (靈山)," refers to Vulture Peak, where the Buddha is said to have preached the Lotus Sutra.

The hermitage consists of five buildings which are presumed to have been built in the late 19th century. The buildings are arranged in a square layout, which is typical of a Buddhist temple. The main gate to this hermitage is called "Uhwaru (雨花樓)," literally meaning "pavilion of flower rain." The name was derived from the famous flower rain that happened during the Buddha's Vulture Peak Assembly.
